In the DNA?

Yes, I know I'm horribly behind and haven't blogged any of the Christmas play, F's bday, or Christmas itself. I promise to catch up, but for now, I have to tell this story.
Yesterday the kids got into the waterhose outside. When they came in I asked them about it. They admitted they had done it, but promised that it wouldn't happen again. (EEEVVR, mommy) In a moment of gracefilled parenting, which is not like me AT ALL, I say "Okay, see that it doesn't" and let the whole thing go. They go out again in the afternoon. G comes in needing to change her shirt. I ask why and she tells me that it's wet. So, I asked "Have the 3 of you been in the garden hose again? Of course the answer is yes.
Now I have to pull out the nuclear bomb of parenting, complete with the whole speech on honesty and trust (LONG version) As I leave the room I am giving it in, I tell them that they need to think about how they are going to earn my trust back. I went to the kitchen and start making dinner. A few minutes later, Will comes busting into the kitchen in complete joy and enthusiasm saying "I did it! I figured out how we can earn your trust back!" Mentally patting myself on the back for my obviously superior parenting skills, I ask him just how he plans to go about this task. He smiled up at me with complete sincerity and said...."We could buy you some jewelry!"
WHH? Knowing for 100% sure that he has never seen this demonstrated in life I have to ask......"Is it in the DNA? Something in the Y chromosome, perhaps?
