GG's reading party and other things

Grace finished the first level of Hooked on Phonics this week so we had what has come to be a family tradition and celebrated today with her reading party. We went with a luau theme. She wanted a doll cake wearing a green dress for her bday, but the kitchen was getting remodeled, so she had to settle for a publix ladybug cake. So, one guess what kind of cake she wanted for her reading party? When she liked the luau decorations, I went with a green grass skirt. She has been attending the reading parties for her "pig kids" for so long. She was REALLY fired up about the day being about her! Her attitude toward school has turned around a lot recently and is a quick learner.

Speaking of a turnaround. Will decided HE was a bookworm this week after a trip to the library. He discovered Batman early readers (basically comic books) and is reading like crazy. Yeah, I know.....lowered standards.....hey, at least he's reading. I found him some more Super Friends books like those. He likes Batman because of all his cool gadgets and is intrigued by the "super" powers of the others.

Faith had a Dr. appt. in Tampa on Thursday and it was a really great one. Her weight gain was a pound and a half and she killed her PFT's. (Pulmonary Function Test) Her lung function scored 100%, her FEV1 was 99% and her small airway function was up from 89% to 95%!

Last Saturday we took the kids to Seaworld. Seaworld has a FL/GA resident special going on that once you pay for admission for a day, you can come back for the rest of the year on that same admission. It was hot, but everyone had a great time. It still amazes me how much hotter it is in Orlando than here...we're further south, but that seabreeze makes a world of difference. SO.......

On the way home from Tampa, (thurs) we stopped at Seaworld for some marine life viewing/petting, dinner and the fireworks show....which did not start until after 10pm! The db's have never been out that late before. Who are we and what have we done with R and D? They went to Hawaii, but other people came home in their bodies :)
