Vacation contiued

Onto Washington....We arrived in the afternoon, set up the campers and went to the Mall for the evening. Of couse we were all dressed for traveling and I had no makeup on, so of course that was when the best family photos were taken:) The first full day, we did outside monuments and walking around since rain was forcast to come in on the next afternoom. The second day, we took on the Natural History Museum. All of the kids enjoyed it, but Faith was in NIRVANA! She lectured the entire time like a little professor. Of course the Ocean Hall was her favorite. We also walked around the mall some more and went to the capitol. Dad was in picture taking nirvana, himself. The next day was Saturday. R took both of the babies to the Dr...Gracie with her ears, again and Will with some unexplained rash. Gracie's ear problem from Tuesday had spread to her other ear now, so we went with yet a third antibiotic and Will's rash was a reaction to the amoxicillin. R and G stayed at the camper. Daddy, F, W and I went to the Air and Space Museum. That was Will's favorite day. (minus the Dr. visit)
R went to a hotel in DC that night to get some sleep for his race since G had him up every night that week. He got up the next AM and ran the Marine Corps Marathon, which was the whole reason we were there. By now he had the same bad cold that the rest of us had, hadn't slept, nor had he eaten well that week. Needless to say, he didn't do as well as he would've liked, but I am amazed he even does these things healthy, much less sick. We went to the American History Museum and met up with him afterwards. All the Smithsonians were great and despite the illnesses, we managed to have a really good time. On the way home however, our poor GG's eardrums both burst! She yelled "ow, my ears" and then felt much better. Of course that's when it got really scary for us. We didn't know initially that was what happened and all we knew was that greenish/brownish snot was coming out of her ears! As it turned out, that was from all the infection behind the eardrum and once they perforated, the pressure was gone. She felt better, but couldn't hear very much. So, first day back, it was a visit to the pediatric ENT. She is doing much better now. She has antibiotic eardrops in addition to the oral one she's on.
Halloween was not huge, but they did get to dress up and hand out some candy which is all that mattered to them. The pictures are on the photos section of the blog above this post. They were Charlotte, Wilber and Templeton from Charlottes Web.
We went to the Saturday evening church service, so today was a total relaxation day. We swam (yes, I said swam on the first of Nov) grilled out and played on "the monstrocity". ..the kids's, at least, played on it. Back to work tomorrow. At least we finally got all the laundry done from our trip.
