Richard's home, Daddy went home and we are back to routine. Everyone is healed (almost) Faith is always bringing up the rear with her lungs. I didn't realize it was Presidents Day today and took the kids to the zoo to see the new cheetahs. Wow! I do believe every child in Brevard County was there. At first I just thought "Holy cow, those new cheetahs are really drawing a crowd" but then after I was there a few minutes I realized it was, in fact a holiday and every family in Brevard County decided to come out for the nice, sunny mid 70 degree day. It was a beautiful day, but so crowded, almost not worth it.
Gymnastics went well this AM. A little girl that normally attends the Wed. class showed up at ours for a make-up. Her mom pops her head in to tell the teacher "She's running a little high this morning, so if she wants some water or seems tired, just know"
WTH? All three of my kids are in there....with the little girl that's "running a little high" I thankfully, composed myself to ask the mom, "excuse me, I heard you say your daughter was running a little high this morning, What did you mean by that?" She looked at me, a little taken aback, and said "She has diabetes. Her blood sugar is a little high right now."
"oh, I'm sorry to ask but......blah blah, daughter w/CF blah blah" She immediately understood and we had the mommy of a chronically ill child moment. So, she finished juggling her 5 yr. old twin boys in the corner and came over to chat. Knowing it's a home school gymnastics class we started off talking about that which evolved into the socializing the kids, hard with infection control issues on and on. She said it was hard for Nicki, her daughter, to get playdates for because she is on a pump and no one seemed interested in learning how to take care of her. So, long story short, or long story long, at this point, I gave her my email address and we are going to get together with the kids soon. I think it will be good for Faith to have a friend with "something". Also, there are 2 boys (one of them has diabetes too) Will's age, so I'm excited for him. Maybe (hopefully) they will inflict enough emotional abuse on him after one of his drama queen episodes that he will "man up" a little.
The kids all started tball season a couple of weeks ago. Three different teams, 3 diff practice nights and ALL DAY on Saturday. Wasn't I the one blogging last fall that I was NOT going to let them do so much this spring?
