Well, it took us a day longer than we anticipated, but we are finally here. The camper couldn't be pulled over 60 or it swayed and we were traveling with 3 small ones. The campground is a nice one. We went to the pool twice today while R worked from here on the computer. The campground is almost deserted, so bike riding is not stressful. We even played tennis in the road this morning instead of walking to the courts. Today was also the day to go to Walmart to get everything we forgot.
It is, of course, beautiful here. I had forgotten how beautiful Florida is on a clear day. Tomorrow the children and I are going to Cape Canaveral National Seashore while R goes to Jax for his first real day of work. They are excited. I hope they still feel that way after a couple of hours on the beach.
All the way down here I kept telling them the "Florida stuff". You know, the sun is more powerful than you are used to, the bugs are larger and sting and bite. You must always wear sunscreen and bug spray. Don't touch the palm froms because there are stickers you don't see. Stay away from the anthills. These aren't the sweet black ants you are used to studying for hours on end. They are fire ants. When we go to the beach, there are riptides, undertows, jellyfish and sharks to be aware of. You must always wear your lifevests. ...........other than that, have a great time! Mommy wants you to have fun:)
Did I miss anything? Leave a comment if you can think of something I missed.
They were so well behaved during the trip. I was thinking most of the way in of what good travelers they were. After two great days in the cars, we got here and once again, chaos. I realized I was enjoying them so much because they were restrained!
I also had an opportunity to be with them two at a time. I had 2, R had one in his car. The most contentious combination by far was the Will, Grace combo. Faith and Will were wonderful, Faith and Grace the same. I realized that the only time Will attempts to cross Faith is when she is hooked to her vest or nebulizer. They do have problems at other times, but it's because Will is doing something he shouldn't to Grace and Faith is tattling.
Will wanted to be in his "male TV box" and Gracie insisted on engaging him in converstation. The backseat conversation went something like this: Mommy, Will won't talk to me.....Will please say something to your sister.....Mommy, Will spoke to me in an unkind voice! Well Grace, I told you to leave him alone......Will, please be a little more kind to your sister........Will says I a baby, not a big girl. ...........And does that make you a baby? Just ignore him.....Will says I go pee pee on Daddy. Will says, Wills says, and on and on...........
When we had the same situation with Faith and Will, she just talked to me when she wanted conversation and he was trying to watch TV. Then of course, they had one another to talk to when it was the F/G combo.
I will try to have some pictures for you tomorrow.
